Successful Steel Projects Across Melbourne & Victoria

Our Projects

At Plinius Engineering, we take pride in delivering high-quality steel fabrication projects that stand the test of time. With over 50 years of experience, our team has completed various projects across various sectors, including sports facilities, educational institutions, urban developments, and more. Each project highlights our commitment to precision, quality, and innovation. Explore some notable projects below to see how we bring our expertise to life, transforming visions into reality.

Mars/Eureka Stadium

The Mars/Eureka Stadium project involved a comprehensive upgrade of Ballarat's northern oval precinct to host AFL games and serve as the Ballarat home of the Western Bulldogs. The upgrade included new grandstands on the western and eastern sides, and the northern viewing area was refurbished. This extensive transformation brought the stadium up to modern standards, making it a premier sports venue in the region.

"I have worked with a lot of contractors in my life. But Plinius exceeds others by far. The one thing that everyone else has lost is heart. But, this cannot be said about Plinius. Heart is what made Eureka Stadium a success. The team at Plinius had heart. When you build and the men building it, you can believe. You can do anything. And that my dear friend is exactly what we did. Thank you, Plinius, for your support and for believing in me. A big thank you to the whole Plinius family. A great bunch of guys. I salute you." – Carlo Porco, Project Manager, Atelier Projects.

Power Street Habitat Filter

Power Street Habitat Filter is a unique architectural streetscape project introducing ecological concepts such as fauna and flora habitats, green energy production, and water harvesting in an urban setting. The project involved offsite design development, on-site establishment, major road and traffic coordination within freeway boundaries, earthworks, a major piled foundation system, concrete works, substantial steel structures, and architectural facade systems. It also included solar panelling, native landscaping, and bio-retention ponds, making it a sustainable and innovative urban feature.

Armstrong Creek Library

The team has been busy completing this new library in Geelong, which has a complex cantilevered steel structure supporting a precast facade. The project proved challenging to the team but rewarding. We all look forward to this project being handed over in the coming weeks.

Werribee Zoo

From late 2023, Plinius has been working on the new Elephant facility at the Werribee Zoo. Consisting of 200 tonnes of Structural steel. The team has built the new Herd and Bull barns, Amenities Building, and decking supports, and they will tackle the gate and fencing installation over the coming months. A unique project and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's been extremely satisfying to work on.

Parliament House of Victoria

Over the past four years, we have been completing the upgrade of the East Wing. Recently, the first of 2 main stair upgrades was handed over. This consists of 15 tonnes of solid steel staircases and balustrading that support the new bluestone tiles. The seven flights were lifted through the existing roof and placed between 150-year-old bluestone walls.

Geelong College

Recently, we completed the Geelong College project by installing the Corten perforated screen. The panels consisted of Corten RHS, plate and perforated sheeting. Plinius provided samples for acoustic testing, which resulted in design changes after testing to suit the allowable noise requirements. Once fabricated, the pre-rust process took place at our factory before transport. These have turned out better than expected, and the team has done great.

Plinius had the opportunity to complete its second AFL project for 2022 with this extension at Arden St. Consisting of 50 tonnes of structural steel and screening frames; this 2-storey building will house Nth Melbourne's AFLW programme.

Brimbank Aquatic & Wellness Centre

A new aquatic centre in St Albans. The 600T project sees a brand new 50m and 25m pool, and kids learn to swim in a pool with a splash zone and water slides, gymnasium, sauna, and wellness centre. Built through the challenges of Covid, the finished product has come up brilliantly.

Budj Bim National Park

Plinius installed a new toilet facility, pedestrian bridge and walkways through the local indigenous aquacultural eel farming World Heritage site. The 600m of boardwalks had to be manually handled into position. Consisting of steel with a 3-coat paint finish and walkway mesh in a raw finish, tourists will be able to visit very shortly. The finishing touches included Brass Handrails, gates, signage and a cast fire pit were installed.
